Add to CalendarCobargo Folk Festival
Friday 1st March, 2019 - Sunday 3rd March, 2019

The historic village of Cobargo, on the NSW Far South Coast, hosts the Cobargo Folk Festival, now into its third decade.
Produced by the Yuin Folk Club and first held in 1996, this festival of music, dance, song, comedy, poetry, fun and fine food and drink, attracts thousands of visitors to one of the most beautiful regions of Australia, the lush Bega Valley.
Folk music is music that comes out of community. It includes the tunes and songs from cultures all over the world – Aboriginal songs, music and dances, Celtic, English, Scottish, bluegrass, Old Timey, African, Indian, Spanish, South American and more – a huge range. At our festival you will find concerts, workshops, dances, poetry events, singing and tunes sessions across a range of musical genres that make up our vibrant folk culture.
The festival is held in a beautiful rural setting with ample space and excellent facilities (including onsite camping with all amenities). Being fully self-contained means it is great for young children and the festival is very family friendly.
The Cobargo Showground is a short walk to the Cobargo village where there is a good pub, coffee shops, craft and antique shops and a service station. A huge range of food and craft stalls are also provided as part of the festival.

Add to CalendarSOAPI Theatre presents Body Politic
Friday 5th April, 2019 - Saturday 13th April, 2019
In a quirky, sometimes comedic, often emotional and tearful way, Body Politic lampoons the party political system and proposes a “tongue in cheek” change in how to vote. A crazy change that disadvantages all political parties, but brings dire consequences to the proponents in Cobargo.
The story starts with Lena, who escaped the Taliban genocide by climbing the Hindu Kush at 16. A refugee, Lena now runs her own coffee shop in Cobargo. Many of her friends and customers are exhibiting signs of Politic Related Stress Disorder (PRSD). They are suffering nightmares about human rights, refugees, the environment and poor governance.
When three friends come up with a truly crazy way to solve their PRSD, Lena takes the lead. Cobargo, Australia (and the world) will never be quite the same again!
Preview: 7.30pm Thursday 4th April — adults $20, teens $10
Season: 7.30pm Friday 5th, Saturday 6th, Friday 12th, Saturday 13th April — adults $25, teens $10
To be held at the famous Cobargo, this event is cabaret style. BYO refreshments.
