Novelist Franz Kafka once wrote that as long as you have food in your mouth, you have solved all questions for the time being.
But perhaps not all. Who’s doing the cooking? If you don’t have the expertise, you can learn it on the Sapphire Coast, from expert instructors with a passion for taste.
Given what the Bega Valley is famous for, then making cheese seems an obvious skill to pick up during your visit, or perhaps how to create smallgoods. Maybe even discover how to cater for a full-on dinner party?
Or perhaps your heart yearns to bake. Other courses on offer include baking and artisan bread making, with classes for young and old.
Spend a day or more, immersing yourself in timeless skills, and learn how to feed your body and your soul.
Stroudover Cottage – Cooking School/Guesthouse
Stroudover Cottage offers food events – from a seven-course truffle dining experience, to cheese and sausage making courses for the discerning guest.
Perhaps the pinnacle of Stroudover Cottage’s many offerings is the three-day cookery school which focusses on using produce from the Bemboka region (ie from a 10km radius – like the Bemboka Banquet).
Participants will visit local producers of the food and also spend a few hours foraging for food.
All in all, the philosophy of paddock to plate (with the skills to cook it, too!) and knowing where your food comes from and how to find it locally makes the event such a fabulous and unique experience.
